After the Restoration? - Conservation!
Church House's restoration was completed in November 2005. We have now a beautiful heritage site and community hall, but how do we keep it that way? On a day to day basis, the building must pay its running costs - lighting, heating, cleaning, insurance, etc. In addition, materials and equipment will need replacing and repair. And we must also make provision for future redecoration and thatching costs.
As a heritage site, we must preserve and add to the historical archive and educational material accrued so far and it is our intention to develop material to enhance its coverage to include the grade 1 listed Church of Saint Andrew next door.
We are working to raise the finance for the above in a number of ways :
Hall bookings - for meetings, parties, educational, training & leisure classes, away days, exhibitions, recitals, talks, etc.
Church House Encounters - a monthly series of enjoyable & stimulating events for the general public

Fund Raising Events - organised by the Committee or sponsors - the main event being the
Whitsun Church House Ale
Guided Tours (Group or Individual) - of Church House, Saint Andrew's Church and the village of South Tawton
Donations - entry to Church House is free. We have a donations box or you can donate on-line (see below)

Friends of Church House - This group was formed initially to finance the feasibility studies for the restoration and then to contribute towards the match funding required by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Friends are continuing after the restoration to provide a solid, dependable base of funding for our continued activities. If you would like to become a Friend of Church House you can subscribe on-line (see below) or by post.
Sponsorship - Many of our fund raising activities incur costs which reduce any income gained. We welcome all kinds of sponsor partnerships for good and materials (eg catering, printing, etc.), services (eg insurance, publicity, etc.) or for specific events or sections of events. Details
Sale Items - Currently we offer our Guide Book, Church House mugs and a 72 minute DVD of the Church House Restoration. It is planned to add other educational and historical items in the future.
