Church House is open to the public, as a Heritage Centre, Sundays: May to October inclusive. The premises may also be booked for a variety of functions, during the whole year, either the ground floor, the first floor or the whole building for the morning, afternoon, evening or any contiguous combination of times.
For some events e.g. art exhibitions, craft fairs, etc. the seasonal public openings may be a welcome bonus. Private functions however cannot be booked during the public opening times.
If you wish to arrange a group Heritage Visit to Church House (Small or Large Groups Welcome), this can be arranged, with access and
a guided tour of St Andrews Church, if required. There is no charge for the visit or guided tour - we just hope you may want to stay for our delicious cream teas.
If you just would like to make an informal visit, outside of normal opening hours, it is often possible to open the building for this, if staff are available,
by phoning 01837 840418.
The accomodation consists of a large first floor Hall (the old Feasting Hall), a smaller first floor Heritage Room with audio visual facilities, a ground floor large Hall (the medieval roasting/brewing area) and also on the ground floor, a modern Food Preparation area, a male toilet and a disability/female/baby changing toilet facility.
The ground floor has disability access via a ramp and a sound loop is installed. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the external granite steps, the first floor is not accessible for those with mobility problems. During the public opening times, a portable DVD player is available with video footage of the heritage sights on the first floor.
You may make a booking for functions and events, either using the form below or by post. We can offer seating accommodation for 50+ persons and there is the possibility of one or both floors with basic kitchen facilities and disability access/toilets.
Catering provision : We can provide Microwave and Combination Oven; Kettle, continuous flow Water Heater and 8 Litre Portable Water Boiler; Cups, Saucers and Tea Plates for up to 60 people; Pottery Mugs for 35 people; Tea/Coffee Pots. Sugar Bowls; Some large Dinner Plates; Cutlery; Tumblers and Wine Glasses; Table Cloths, Table Napkins, Tea Towels etc.
For those requiring more substantial meals, Church House is directly opposite the Seven Stars Inn
who will provide your requirements at a reasonable cost.
Because of the Heritage Site nature of Church House, we must ask you NOT TO SMOKE inside the building!
There is a standard charge per 4 hour session but, as each case differs, we ask you to contact us (see below) for availability and total charges. Those wishing to book exhibitions, etc. should be aware of the summer period public opening times below.
If you wish to arrange a group Heritage Visit to Church House (with access and a guided tour of St Andrews Church if required - Small or Large Groups Welcome)
or if you just want an improptu visit outside of normal opening hours (01837 840418), this can be arranged - either visit, no charge.
